As part of our HST WF/PC-1 near-IR survey of Markarian galaxies we have identified several non-Seyferts which display peculiar morphologies on sub-kiloparsec scales. These include double nuclei, spiral structures, and twisting isophotes. One explanation is that we are seeing asymmetric disturbances to the gravitational potential which drives gas inflow providing fuel for the nuclear starburst. Alternatively, these features may be tracing the distribution of massive stars produced by the starburst.
