It is supposed that the interaction between particles by means of "heavy quanta" is realized alongside with the gravitational interaction. This interaction may be reduced to the gravitational interaction of particles whose masses are changed on account of additional interaction. The mass of the smaller particle decreases, and the sum of particle masses remains constant. The mass of an electron in the medium decreases for augmentation of the quantity of matter in its neighbourhood at distances of the order of the interaction radius. This must bring about an increase of the wavelengths of spectral lines. An increase of the mean radial velocity of stars has been revealed in the central, most denser zone of the nucleus of the star cluster M3 relative to stars outside the nucleus at 3.9±1.3 km s-1, which is in agreement with the prediction of the theory qualitatively. The mechanism has been used for the explanation of quasar redshifts and proper redshifts of galaxies revealed by Arp.
