The predictions of the VSOP 82 theory of Bretagnon (1982) for Neptune motion are compared with the observations performed since the discovery of the planet. The comparison shows some significant variations. The yearly averages of the residuals in longitude and latitude are discussed by Keplerian and spectral analysis, leading to small corrections to orbital elements and to significant periodicities. It is noted that an important periodicity has a period close to the synodic period of Neptune and Saturn.
