The authors present a detailed investigation of the LMC H II regions N11C and N11E using several observational techniques. They study the physical properties of these nebulae: gas density, excitation, chemical abundances, extinction, etc. They also study the stars associated with these regions. They determine the spectral types for 9 stars and give the B and V photometry for 58 stars. The authors classify the spectrum of the star Sk -66°41 which has been known as one of the most luminous stars in the LMC, as O5 V and show that it is not a single star but a multiple system. Contrary to what has been believed, this star is not the main exciting source of N11C. Sk -66°43, the main exciting star of N11E, is classified as O4-5 V; several galactic late-type stars in this direction are distinguished. Using CCD long-slit spectra, the authors study the excitation and extinction along several directions in N11C and E. Gas is found to be coupled with dust along several directions. The dust may be associated with the molecular cloud detected near N11.
