The stellar origin of fluorine is addressed, with attention to how fluorine could be produced and survive at the temperature of the helium-shell flashes. A logarithm of the F-19/O-16 ratio relative to the mean value in K and M stars plotted as a function of the C-12/O-16 ratio is presented. The trend of increased fluorine abundance with increasing carbon abundance and spectral type is strong evidence that fluorine is produced in helium-shell flashes within these stars.
