A mechanism for the ejection of plasma based on local chromospheric evaporation during a solar flare is presented. Numerical MHD modeling demonstrates the development of a powerful post-flare loop and the subsequent ejection of a plasma jet, leading to the formation of a vertical current sheet. The sheet decays due to reconnection and thermal radiative instability.
