The Chandra X-ray Observatory has observed several gravitational lens systems as part of a program aimed primarily at the measurement of cosmological distances using X-ray time delays observed in varying gravitationally lensed quasars. The study offers the prospect of obtaining substantially more accurate measurements of the critical cosmological quantities H0 and q0. Preliminary results from spectral, spatial and timing analysis will be presented for the GL systems RXJ0911.4+0551, MITG J0414+0534 and CLASS 1608+656. In particular, we discuss the detection of large long term and short term variability in RXJ0911.4+0551, the detection of hot intracluster gas from the lensing cluster located about 40'' southwest of the quadruple lens, and the possible detection of an emission line. Chandra's spatial resolving power of ~ 0.4'' allows us for the first time to resolve the X-ray images of these lensed systems. We have estimated the short time-delays between closely separated images of lensed quasars in our survey and identify the GL systems that appear to be suitable candidates for measuring cosmological distances with Chandra.
