We report the identification of five short-period variables in the Southern globular cluster M55. All the variables are contact eclipsing binary stars. Three of these have well-sampled light curves with periods of 0.233, 0.34 and 0.386 days. The locations of these stars in the color-magnitude diagram indicates that the brighter eclipsing binary system is either a field star or, if member of the cluster, contains a slightly evolved primary and it is a blue straggler candidate. The other eclipsing binary candidates are located well below the cluster turnoff point. If members of M55, these are amongst the lowest luminosity eclipsing binaries known in any globular cluster.
