The Nearby Supernova Factory reports that a spectrum (range 320-1000 nm) of SN2006U (IAUC #8667), obtained 2006 February 8.4 UT with the Supernova Integral Field Spectrograph on the University of Hawaii 2.2-meter telescope, shows it to be an AGN at redshift 0.25. The redshift was determined by matching H-alpha and H-beta to the SDSS composite AGN template (Vanden Berk et al., 2001, AJ, 122, 549).
