The current understanding of the dynamics of the Venusian atmosphere is critically discussed, with emphasis on the importance of the remote sensing in the NIR and thermal-IR portions of the spectrum for obtaining this information. It is proposed that the remaining uncertainties and outstanding mysteries can be clarified using a relatively simple multispectral imaging device on a low-cost Venus orbiter mission. The basic parameters of such a project are examined.
