In this article, magnetic reconnection caused by the instability of neutron star magnetospheres has been proposed as the electron acceleration mechanism in gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). The beamed relativistic electrons accelerated directly by the acceleration mechanism impulsively eject from the magnetic reconnection region approximately in the line of the magnetic field direction. These electrons emit photons through synchrotron radiation and lose energy. The synchrotron radiation spectrum has been calculated, including the radiation loss. This kind of spectrum form is different from the known form of synchrotron radiation and satisfactorily fits the three successive continuum spectra and the time evolution of N14 (150-700KeV)/N13 (40-180KeV) in GB820828 showing remarkable spectral variability. Also, the radiation mechanism can reasonably explain the common characteristics, i.e., the absorption and emission features only appear at the beginning of GRBs with fast spectral variability.
