A detailed analysis is presented of the spectral properties of the correlated optical and radio outburst occurring in the BL Lac object AO0235+164. The observed features can be reasonably interpreted in the framework of relativistic shocked-jet models. The structure of the background jet spectrum is analyzed along with that of the outburst. The outburst is shown to be represented by a uniform synchrotron radiation source with optically thin spectral index of about 0.25, break-frequency of about 3 x 10 exp 12 Hz, and cutoff frequency of about 2 x 10 exp 14 Hz. The adiabatic acceleration of particles, amplification of the magnetic field, and emission region parameter are discussed. The simultaneity of the optical and radio outbursts is considered to be due to the optical thinness of the emitting region. The optically thin spectra index at radio band is smaller than that of the background jet spectrum at similar frequencies.
