A physical interpretation of type VII cosmological models (according to Bianchi) with a homogeneous comoving space is proposed in terms of circularly polarized gravitational waves of arbitrary wavelength in a flat nonstationary space (for type VII/0/) and in a space having constant negative curvature (for type VII/h/). The type VII/0/ models describe standing waves, while type VII/h/ models describe traveling waves. The type VII/h/ models with a single traveling wave are integrated and have an exact solution.
