The various criteria used to classify galaxies as Irr II are examined with the aid of recent data and a truth table. It is concluded that the class probably consists of two (or possibly three) different kinds of objects, physically unrelated. On the one hand there are the explosive and post-explosive galaxies, while on the other hand, there are those distorted by probable gravitational interaction with a companion.
