Results are presented of calculations of the preferred structure of dynamo-generated magnetic fields for a sample of 17 galaxy models assumed to be axisymmetric in their nonmagnetic properties. Results show that the preferred large-scale magnetic fields are of S0 type (i.e., have the symmetry of an axisymmetric quadrupole), except for two cases of A0 fields (i.e, where the dipole symmetry is preferred). In no model the nonaxisymmetic magnetic fields were found to be preferred. It is shown that the standard method for the distinguishing between the axi- and bisymmetic fields based on the variation of rotation measures is applicable for fields that are symmetric about the galactic plane and which are inclined by not large an angle to the line-of-sight.
