Techniques to estimate the maximum initial mass limit, M(WD) for formation of white dwarfs are reviewed, focusing on the process of identifying white dwarf members of galactic clusters with turn-off masses less than M(WD). The search for statistical excess of faint blue objects in intermediate age northern clusters by Romanshin and Angel (1980) is discussed. Spectroscopic observations are presented, which identify 12 (possibly 14) white dwarf members of intermediate age clusters.
