Intermediate band photometric and astrometric observations at 8000 A and 9200 A of the galactic center region are presented. The discovery of two optical objects near the position of the compact nonthermal radio source and the infrared source IRS 16 by Grindlay and Liller (1978) is confirmed. Astrometry and two-color photometry suggests that these optical objects are foreground stars.
