A survey for photometric variability in a wide variety of astronomical objects would produce much new information about their interiors and dynamics. Reasons for such a survey are given, as well as an example of the solar-constant variations that can be used as a guide to what may be expected from main-sequence stars. A concept for a satellite dedicated to a survey of photometric variability is proposed.
