Solar wind proton speed distributions detected by the Helios 1 spacecraft from Dec. 1974-79 and by Helios-2 from Jan. 1976-Mar. 1980 are reported. The data on the plasma were gathered hourly by the heliocentric satellites over the period extending from the minimum to the maximum of the 21st solar cycle. A third type of solar wind was detected, travelling at 450 km/sec and appearing at the solar minimum. The average speed of the slow solar wind was calculated to be 350 km/sec, and the fast solar wind, 650 km/sec. Greater heating was found at distances shorter than 0.6 AU than at the range 0.6-1 AU.
