Several irregular orbits in a planar bar are followed for up to a Hubble time. Their contribution to the density of the bar is found as well as their evolution on the surface of section. The existence of cantori (partial barriers) in the surface of section is shown and its significance discussed. The trapped orbits along the bar play a very important role in the existence of the bar. They reinforce it so strongly that they may counter-balance the destructive effect of up to 45 per cent of untrapped orbits.
