For a sample of 127 quasars observed with high angular resolution at the VLA, the authors have investigated the relative orientation of the core polarization vector at λ6 cm and the overall radio axis. While the core polarization E-vector tends to be perpendicular to the radio axis in the two-sided quasars with lobes of radio emission on opposite sides of the nucleus, no correlation is found for the one-sided sources which appear to have only a single extended lobe. The authors have also investigated the dependence of the angle, φ, between the polarization vector and the radio axis, on the fraction of emission from the core, fc. They find that, for sources with weak cores, φ tends to be close to 90° while, for those with the strongest cores, φ appears to be more or less uniformly distributed between 0° and 90°.
