The observations suggest that the central star of NGC 3132 is a double
system, the visually brighter component being HD 87892. The nebula is
ionized by a very hot object whose characteristics are briefly
discussed. The assumption that NGC 3132 lies at the same distance as HD
87892 leads to a very small ionized nebular mass.
