We examine whether the gravitational lensing effect could be used to measure q0 considering the instrumental limitations and the limited precision on the relevant parameters. The problem is treated within the standard cosmological `model; the mass distribution for the main deflector galaxy is chosen to follow the r1/4 law of de Vaucouleurs; the instrumental angular resolutions adopted here are characteristic of Space Telescope and VLBI techniques. We analyse the case of Q 0957+561. We show that the Space Telescope will be precious for the mapping of cluster galaxies near main deflector, but the greater angular resolution of VLBI will be required.
