The response of a circular accretion disk to rapid modulation of the mass-transfer rate into the disk is examined as a model for the superhumps in the SU UMa stars. The author considers two components for the superhump light sources: the bright spot, which has a compact size and higher temperature, and the outer disk heated by the energy input by the flow, which has an extended area with lower temperature. It is shown that this model can explain several observed superhump features. The origin of the modulated mass transfer is discussed. It is concluded that the elliptical accretion-disk model with extended vertical disk structure is most promising.
