Properties of stellar granulation are inferred from observed line bisectors. The average granulation velocities of dwarfs and giants increase with increasing effective temperature. The dispersion of granule velocities increases with the mean granulation velocity. The mean rise velocity of granules must be small compared with line broadening. The flux contributed by the intergranular lines is always small compared to the flux from the granules; ratios are 0.15. The velocity difference between hot and cold falling streams should be the parameter associated with the stellar granulation velocity.
