The properties of linear, adiabatic solar oscillations are described. Use of helioseismological data to study solar structure is outlined. Internal solar rotation is reviewed. The physics determining the oscillation frequencies is sufficiently simple that a very detailed comparison between observations and theory is possible. This provides tight constraints on the structure of the solar interior, as well as measurements of the variation of the solar rotation with depth.
