A new meteorite, found at Marburg-an-der Lahn, Hesse, Germany, is described. It contains well-rounded olivine crystals having a composition of 12.5 mole % fayalite. Neither compositional variation between crystals, nor zoning within the olivine crystals could be detected. The average of two compositional determinations of the metal phase is: Fe 8.4, Ni-11.02, Co-0.51, P-0.005, S-0.028 wt. % and Ga-19 ppm. A modal analysis indicated the following approximate composition (wt. %): metal-63, olivine-35, and combined troilite and schreibersite-2, with troilite predominating. The cooling rate, determined on the metal phase, is 0.8°C per 10 6 yr. On the basis of these measurements, the Marburg pallasite appears to be a typical representative of this rare and interesting group of meteorites.
