The paper presents time-resolved spectrophotometric observations of the AM Herculis type variable H0139 - 68 obtained when the system was in its recent low state (V = 17.4 mag). The spectra show Zeeman absorption components due to hydrogen from the underlying magnetic white dwarf. The observations are consistent with the assumption that the spectra arise from a hydrogen-rich white dwarf atmosphere (Te = 20,000 K) with a centered dipole field distribution of polar field strength Bp = 3 x 10 to the 7th gauss viewed at an angle 45-90 deg to the magnetic axis. H0139 - 68 is the third AM Herculis object for which a magnetic field has been measured using the Zeeman absorption effect. It is significant that the four magnetic field determinations of AM Herculis type systems are all in the range 2-3 x 10 to the 7th gauss.
