Near IR photometry of comet P/Crommelin has been recorded on March 19, 1984 at ESO (La Silla) in the J, H, and K filters. The (J-H) and (H-K) values are compatible with a silicate composition of micron-size particles; there is no evidence for absorbing particles. The comparison with other observations performed with different diaphragm sizes could indicate a marginal departure from the r-2 density distribution (r distance to the nucleus).
