The authors present numerical computations of the infrared flux distribution of the extremely luminous star Cygnus OB 2 No. 12 (spectral type B5Ia+). A mass-loss rate of M= 4×10-5M_sun;yr-1 and a cool wind with Te = 5000K have been derived from radio observations by White and Becker (1983). It is shown that a cool wind produces a flux density less than predicted by model atmospheres for this star in the infrared (3 - 10 μ). The presence of a cool wind removes the apparent IR-flux deficit found in earlier investigations assuming a wind temperature equal to the stellar effective temperature. The authors discuss the temperature- and the velocity-field of the stellar wind of Cygnus OB 2 No. 12 in terms of optical spectroscopy, visual and infrared photometry, and radio-flux measurements.
