Black Holes, Relativistic Effects
Scientific paper
The pseudo-Newtonian potential is now widely used as a powerful tool to mimic the general relativistic effect around a Schwarzschild black hole. This potential enables high school students to calculate the relativistic phenomena. We thus introduce and summarize the properties of the pseudo-Newtonian potential, discuss its validity, and compare it with the rigorous relativity.
