High resolution spectroscopic techniques are used to investigate the magnetic topology of the young, active K0 dwarf, AB Dor. The techniques of Doppler imaging and Zeeman Doppler imaging enable us to map brightness and magnetic flux distributions at the surfaces of rapidly rotating stars. Magnetic and brightness maps of AB Dor from 1996 December are presented here. The magnetic field at the stellar corona can also be traced using fast moving Hα absorption transients, signatures of prominence-type complexes. We find that the coronal topology of AB Dor evolves much more quickly than the surface magnetic field. GAJH acknowledges the support of a PPARC studentship over the course of this work.
