Pulsation theory is discussed in light of recent improvements in the
theory of radiative transfer and hydrodynamics with applications to
Cepheids, RR Lyrae, and W Virginis stars. It is concluded that the
variable Eddington method is computational fast and a complete transfer
approximation can be obtained.
