We present two-dimensional, time-dependent hydrodynamic models of radiation-driven winds from luminous accretion disks in which the radiation force is mediated by spectral lines. Our models take into account the effects photoionization has on the strength of the line force and the gas temperature. We look at the problem of producing a disk wind for the case when the X-ray radiation is very strong and if not attenuated may completely ionize gas. To find when a disk wind is shielded from the strong X-rays and subsequently can be accelerated to hypersonic velocities, we explore various model parameters. We apply our models to AGNs, in particular, to broad absorption line QSOs. This work was performed while DP held a National Research Council Research Associateship at NASA/GSFC
