Several theorems are proven in regard to mean arithmetic values of stellar magnitudes and color excesses for different models of the spatial density distribution of stars and interstellar dust. The theorems show how the mean arithmetic value of the apparent magnitude of a star sample will differ from the maximum value, how the color excess in an average star will increase due to the presence of an absorbing medium, how the mean arithmetic value of the color excess will depend on the total light absorption of a given star, and how stellar magnitude and color excess can be related to each other.
