Results are presented of a high-resolution spectrum of interstellar Ca II in the 1980 supernova in the cD galaxy NGC 1316 (Fornax A). Three interstellar clouds are detected, with heliocentric velocities of +18, +1364 and +1886 km/s. The lowest velocity cloud, which is also the strongest (Ca II K = 0.21 A), originates in the Galaxy, probably in local (less than 3 kpc) gas. The other two clouds are much weaker and are attributed to gas in NGC 1316, although the +1364 km/s component could be unbound from it. No high-velocity halo clouds in our Galaxy or in the intergalactic medium to NGC 1316 are detected to a limit of N(Ca II) not greater than 1-2 x 10 to the 11th/sq cm.
