It is shown that CCD arrays are able to detect significant numbers of novae in galaxies at the distance of the Virgo Cluster. For most luminous novae, such observations can, through the Mpg (max) versus t2 relation, be used in determining distances to galaxies with distance moduli (m-M)pg less than about 31. It is noted that observations of this type could significantly strengthen distance determinations to the Virgo Cluster itself and might place interesting constraints on models in which the Local Group is falling into the Virgo Super Cluster.
