It is pointed out that sophisticated MHD numerical models can be applied to the inverse mapping problem of solar wind structures seen near 1.0 AU back to the vicinity of the sun, with greater accuracy than that of the widely used, constant velocity technique. Within the restrictions outlined, it is shown that researchers will be able to choose a more complete data set as the origin of the mapping, increasing the total number of spacecraft alignments that can be employed as a basis for computation.
