Results are reported for spectroscopic observations of a filament located near the radio source Cen A and the peculiar elliptical galaxy NGC 5128. The spectra were obtained in a knot near the start of the filament. A scan of the red region of the spectrum reveals a lack of continuum emission and the presence of both O I and O III forbidden lines. The data are shown to indicate that the electron density is less than 0.01 to 0.001 per cu cm and the electron temperature does not exceed 30,000 to 40,000 K. The radial velocity and distance of the knot are taken to suggest that the filament may be infalling material rather than material that has been ejected.
