Characteristics of orthogonal polarization in integrated profiles for two pulsars are discussed and aspects of orthogonal polarization in individual pulses are investigated. Mechanisms for which emission at two orthogonal angles is a natural feature are considered, taking into account the self-absorption effect seen in synchrotron sources and a radiation mechanism which can operate in two modes, one polarized parallel to the field and one perpendicular.
