Sandage and Tammann (1974, 1975) have concluded that the universe is expanding in a remarkably uniform and isotropic way with a low Hubble constant value, which is evidently based on a recalibration of the absolute magnitudes of various luminosity classes of Sc-type galaxies. Some consequences of Sandage and Tammann's specific choice of absolute magnitudes are discussed. The values are compared with the calibration of van den Bergh (1960).
