Neutrino telescopes complement gamma ray telescopes in the observations
of energetic astronomical sources as well as in searching for the dark
matter. This paper gives the status of the current generation neutrino
telescopes projects: Baikal, AMANDA, NESTOR, NEMO and ANTARES with
particular emphasis on the ANTARES telescope in the Mediterranean Sea.
