The intensity of the oxygen emission at 6300 angstroms is shown to be dependent on its exospheric Doppler temperature and two ionospheric parameters-the maximal ion concentration and the critical frequency of the F2 region during geomagnetically quiet periods. The results are compared with those obtained on the basis of the COSPAR International Reference Atmosphere model.
