The problem of ionospheric dynamics is reduced to the Sturm-Liouville problem, with the transformation of the electron-ion gas diffusion equation into a form corresponding to the Schroedinger equation for a quantum oscillator as its basis. A function dependent only on ionospheric parameters serves as an analogy to potential energy, and a value inverse to the lifetime of the discrete electron density distribution serves as an analogy to the eigenvalues. The solutions are obtained in the form of electron density profiles corresponding to the eigenvalues of the function.
