The paper analyzes the evolution of the rotational motion of a celestial
body around its center of mass in the case where the inertia ellipsoid
of the body is close to a sphere. A complete system of nonlinear
equations is obtained, taking gravitational torque and tidal friction
into consideration. Resonance motions are also examined.
