To determine the effective temperature of a sample of 69 mostly cool Ap stars, the intensity of the CaII K line was taken as a temperature indicator. It is demonstrated quantitatively that the K line is normal in Ap stars. Effective temperatures deduced from the K line intensity, T(eff) CaII are lower than those generally admitted for Ap stars, which is in agreement with theoretical results from specific models. T(eff) CaII are also in agreement with T(eff) deduced from ultraviolet photometric index Delta-m 2100 and with those deduced from (U-B) and (B-V) corrected of line blocking effects.
