The distribution of the perihelion directions of 73 comets having great
eccentricities in their original orbits has been studied. The perihelion
points are found to have a preferred plane inclined at 20 deg to the
plane of the Galaxy. The centre of the distribution is only 7 deg from
the solar apex.
