The production mechanisms of astrophysical γ-ray lines are presented. Relying essentially on the reviews of Ramaty and Lingenfelter (1984) and Vedrenne (1988), the author presents briefly the astrophysical sites where γ-ray lines have already been detected. SN 1987A is discussed in detail, after the theory of γ-ray lines in supernovae is presented in brief. Other γ-ray lines of astrophysical interest are discussed.
