The method of flattened spheroids of Mestel (1963) has been extended in
order to derive the gravity fields of azimuthally dependent flat disks
from those of axially symmetrical disks. The present extension follows
the developments in potential theory of Ferrers (1877) for ellipsoids.
Results are presented for the case of bars and spiral disks.
