The association between IRAS point sources, with spectra characteristic of heated dust, and supernova remnants has been studied using a sample of 117 remnants. It is found that there is a significant excess of IRAS sources associated with the remnants and that this excess increases in the shell region. The distributions of IRAS sources superimposed on radio or X-ray maps for some of the sources are presented. Most of the associated IRAS sources are probably dusty knots heated by the shock of the supernova. Some of the associated sources, especially those with a luminosity of more than 5000 solar luminosities, could be protostars whose formation could have been triggered by the shock of the supernova.
